Belkin wireless g f5d7010 version 3100 install problems? - belkin 3100 not working

I recently purchased a Belkin F5D7010 version 3100 card uses the wireless laptop and I also have a Belkin card in the same model number, the version 5100th So my question is, if I install the 3100, does not work as my other laptop, but when I install on 5100, works well. Can someone tell me why this works, but not the other?. I am using Windows XP on both computers. On a Dell Latitude CPX and the other is a Sony Vaio laptop
